But how many beads will I need?
Well, even without an Intel Inside Pentium Processor, you can calculate the number of beads needed for a strand using the following formula:
Just remember that 1 inch = 2.54cm = 25.4mm (1cm ~ 10mm). So, multiply the length of the necklace by 25.4, and divide by the size of the beads in milimeters.
Examples:
1) 18 inch necklace made with 4mm beads:
Number of beads = 18x25.4/4 = 108
2) 32 inch necklace made with 6mm beads:
Number of beads = 32x25.4/6 = 128
Remember: since beads may be irregular, this number is approximate. Also, if you are knotting between the beads, add 1 or 2mm for each knot, depending on the thickness |
